Brace yourselves for a taste of Vancouver weather Tuesday afternoon.
Environment Canada has issued a weather statement for Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park as a downpour is expected to make its way here this afternoon and last into the evening.
At the same time, the rise in temperature throughout the day will make roads and sidewalks slippery, the agency says. Those surfaces will remain frozen despite the temperature change and will become extra icy when they’re hit with a deluge.
Some areas may experience accumulations of five to 10 millimetres of rain and this could lead to flooding if drainage is blocked.
There are freezing rain warnings for areas northwest of Edmonton, including Grande Prairie, Peace River, Slave Lake and Whitecourt.
