Edmonton natives Corin Roddick and Megan James — better known as electro-pop sensations Purity Ring — are in the running for the $5,000 SOCAN Songwriting Prize.

Their song, Fineshrine, is one of five finalists, chosen by a panel of writers, radio programmers and festival gurus across Canada. The others are:

* Baby’s Got It by Maylee Todd

* Devil’s Got a Gun by Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland; performed by Whitehorse

* Mule in the Flowers by Tamara Hope and Steven Lambke; performed by The Weather Station feat. Baby Eagle

* Sucker by Mo Kenney

The winner, announced during the week of July 8, will be decided by fans across Canada. To vote for your favourite, click HERE. You can cast an online ballot once per day until July 3.
