A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Tyler David McDermid.
Wood Buffalo RCMP officers were first called to a shooting at around 2 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2015 at a home in Conklin, Alta.
Almost immediately, RCMP investigators determined this was no random act and put out a plea to the public for information.
Now, after almost a year-long investigation involving the Edmonton Major Crimes Unit, the Serious Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit of the Wood Buffalo RCMP and the National Firearms section in Ottawa, a man has been charged in connection with McDermid’s death.
Trevor Powder, 21, a Conkin resident, has been charged with first-degree murder.
Powder is scheduled to appear in court on July 25.
Conklin is approximately 350 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
