YEGQUEST Day Four: Who’s in the Hoodoos?

Who, who, who’s in the hoodoos? And how did the hoodoos get to Edmonton in the first place?

Don’t worry. Henday didn’t take a road trip to the Badlands – and you don’t have to head quite that far south to find her roosting spot.

Henday in the Hoodoos

Henday in the Hoodoos

Feeling baffled?

Here’s a little poetic assistance:

Once long ago, young Eskimo Jack,

Came north from Knoxville, a true running back.

He gave no quarter in quest of a cup

Spaghetti legs kicking, he kept spirits up.

Today he’s remembered where families play.

Where Badlands look good at the end of the day.

If my ridiculously silly verse doesn’t help, try something a little more technical by way of a clue:

GPS Latitude Ref North
GPS Latitude 53.484333 degrees
GPS Longitude Ref West
GPS Longitude 113.423000 degrees

The Yegquest rules are simple. With the help of these clues, figure out exactly where Henday, the Edmonton Journal’s official Yegchick and the Free Range Edmontonian, has been ranging. Get yourself to that spot. Take a picture of yourself on the site – and send it to us at edmontonjournal.com (Be sure to add the words yegchick or Henday to your note when you upload your shot.)

There will be 12 sites in all – like a dozen eggs. You don’t have to visit every single spot. Each time you take a picture in a location and send it to us, you’ll be entered in our grand prize draw – your chance to win a night in a suite at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald, with breakfast for two the next morning.

But there will also be fab prize packages for the first three people or teams to complete all 12 tasks. And I’ll be awarding discretionary prizes for particularly funny or clever or delightful pictures, so don’t be afraid to get creative.

Prizes include passes to city attractions such as a Valley Zoo and the Muttart Conservatory, gift cards for local gourmet restaurants, and of course our fabulous limited edition “Free Range Edmontonian” #yegquest T-shirts. (You can also buy the T-shirts for the very reasonable price of $15 from Spark, the Branding Shop. (Consider that yet another yegquest opportunity:
