A 23-year-old man has been charged in a spree of arsons in the same southwest Edmonton alley.

Police were first dispatched to a fire call in an alley near 109 Street and 51 Avenue at around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived they found evidence of a small structure fire.

Officers were called back to the area the following day at 6 a.m. after a jeep was set on fire.

Just an hour-and-a-half later, police discovered a motorhome in the same alley engulfed in flames.

On Tuesday, officers were once again called to the alley at 3 a.m. where this time a fence and some garbage had been set ablaze.

During an active patrol of the area, officers then came across a shed and garbage in flames at 8 a.m. and witnessed a suspicious man fleeing on foot.

Police apprehended the man and took him into custody without incident.

Wilhelm Weinmann, 23, has since been charged with five counts of arson to the property of others, disguise with intent and possession of an incendiary material.
