An Edmonton man has been charged after a series of robberies where victims were threatened with a knife and blood-filled syringe.

Edmonton police began investigating after two robberies Dec. 27. In one case, a man reportedly entered a gas station near 61 Street and 90 Avenue and threatened the clerk with a knife before fleeing with cash and gas certificates. Later that evening, police believe the same man threatened to stab a taxi driver and demanded cash after being picked up near a fast food restaurant at 50 Street and 101 Avenue.

The following day, investigators linked the suspect to a robbery at a convenience store near 15 Avenue and Lakewood Road West where a clerk was threatened with a syringe before the suspect demanded cash.

The robbery spree continued Dec. 28 when a man matching the suspect’s description threatened another cab driver with a syringe near 132 Avenue and Fort Road, making off with cash.

Investigators have tied the same suspect to a gas-and-dash robbery at a station near 34 Street and 43 Avenue on Jan. 4.

Robbery detectives arrested a man Tuesday.

Trevor Sibbons, 33, is charged with four counts of robbery, four counts of possession of a weapon, one charge of possession under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
