After eight years rocking Edmonton, the Sonic Boom festival is no more.

A post from Edmonton’s alt-rock station Sonic 102.9 broke the news on its Facebook page Tuesday morning.

Started in 2009, the annual music festival averaged 10,000 fans. In 2015, it went from the concrete grounds at Northlands to the grassy oasis at Borden Park. The festival has featured the likes of Jack White, Linkin Park, The Lumineers, Twenty One Pilots, Blink 182, and Arctic Monkeys.

Calgary’s X-Fest will also not return in 2017.

“X-Fest in Calgary and Sonic Boom in Edmonton will not be returning in 2017. We are currently in the process of building a fresh vision for future events in Alberta. We’d like to thank all the fans and supporters of the festivals over the years including the Cities of Calgary and Edmonton,” Live Nation Canada’s Central Region president Ian Low.
