Boyle Street Projections is a video instalation opening in the bold new Boyle Street Plaza (architecture by Arndt Tkalcic Bengert).
Running on a wall visible from outside through March at night, the work is subject to the sensory inputs of live shows and intense physical activity in the gym.
Two distinct films running about 22 minutes total were created. One by Allen Ball and Alysha Creighton is Moving On, and Jill Tomson, Mercury Opera’s Darcia Parada and Owen Brierley came up with The Heritage Quarter: A New Vision for an Urban Landscape. Both films are collages of sorts, mixing neighbourhood images with history and determinism of hope.
The project grows from a logo garden of affiliates, including Boyle Street Community League, the Quarters Downtown, Edmonton Heritage Council, Edmonton Arts Council, Edmonton Federation of Community leagues and the city itself.
What you need to know right now is the food will be served at 6:30 Friday night, the films will launch after 7 and that everyone is welcome to warm up around the fires outside. It’s all ages, and there’s a cash bar, too.
Here are a few pics of the preparation the night before, with a couple bunny images at the end underlining this blog’s name, Wildlife.
