The generosity of ABC Head Start supporters during the holiday season always astounds me. Our donors, supporters, and volunteers go above and beyond to make sure our families are well cared for this time of year. But the need is great and every little bit of support goes a long way. What I love about this season is people help in whatever way they can. They give their time, resources and money – and every bit makes a difference to a family in need.
A new movement has started in Canada…and I’m not talking about the Welcome Winter Movement, this movement is called Giving Tuesday. It is a day where charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others. Giving Tuesday takes place on December 3, 2013, the day after Cyber Monday. Most people have heard about Black Friday and Cyber Monday…“We have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.” Visit the Giving Tuesday website, get your friends, family and coworkers involved, Facebook it, Instagram it, tweet about it – #GivingTuesdayCa – get it trending and show the world we care about our communities.
Let’s get this giving season started with a BANG! On December 3, I encourage you to give to your favourite charity in whatever way you can.
