Grade 3 students at Sweetgrass School in Edmonton got into the Olympic spirit by participating in a bobsled race event at the school on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018.
Kristy Lundstrom, a grade three teacher at the elementary school, came up with the idea as a project to teach students math and science concepts.
The students designed and built the bobsleds out of skis, a section of OSB board, a piece of crazy carpet, cardboard and other recyclable materials. They also learned about various Olympic sports and different countries. The school also held an Olympics day and encouraged students and staff to dress in Olympic clothing to cheer on Canada at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
