The Edmonton Oilers couldn’t pick on young Bulgarian-born, Russian-trained rookie goalie Alexandar Georgiev, who earned his first NHL victory in his third start, in a 3-2 win for the visiting New York Rangers Saturday night.
Mika Zibanejad had a goal and an assist to Chris Kreider 54 seconds into the game and Paul Carey got the winner on a deflection on Cam Talbot in the middle period.
For the 13th time, the Oilers gave up a goal on the first shot in the game’s first minute, and Talbot didn’t have a prayer on Kreider’s goal. Zibanejad slid a pass by Darnell Nurse to a wide-open Kreider for a sitter.
