An injured great horned owl that was rescued near Gold Bar Park in Edmonton was released back into the wild a few weeks after completing her rehabilitation.

WILDNorth, a charitable organization that cares for injured, contaminated and orphaned wildlife, held a media conference on Friday, March 9, 2018, to celebrate the release of the owl as well as the influx of $65,000 from the Alberta government for WILDNorth’s new Northern Expansion Initiative.

The funding will allow WILDNorth to provide rescue and compassionate care for injured and orphaned wildlife in the far northern regions of Alberta.

WILDNorth annually takes in about 3,000 injured or orphaned wild animals each year.
