Just in case you haven’t noticed, it’s cold out there folks! I apologize from the bottom of my Albertan-Canadian heart if this is your first winter in Edmonton. I would like to say “It gets better,” but the truth is sometimes it’s -40C during the winter and there’s not much we can do about it. I grew up in Manning, Alberta which is the coldest place IN THE ENTIRE WORLD this morning – I am proof and inspiration that you can survive Alberta winters.
Being it is so cold out, I am going to serve you up something that will warm you from the inside out. I have been fortunate enough to work at ABC Head Start for the past six years. I am incredibly fortunate to witness heartwarming moments every day. Families who have been impacted by our program so deeply that they not only rise up from poverty but then want to give back to families who need their support.
This is Laura’s story. Laura shares with us the impact of ABC Head Start on her and her children and of her excitement at the opportunity to come back as a social worker helping other families to achieve success in learning and life.
“ABC Head Start is more than an agency, it’s a family, it’s a legacy… it’s something that will follow you all your life.” – Laura
