A smaller than expected convoy took to Edmonton’s ring road Tuesday as part of a pro-pipeline rally intended to show support for Alberta oil and gas workers.
Organized as the ‘Stand Up Canada Yellow Vest Pipeline Rally’ event, the convoy met at Lamont at 9 a.m. before making its way to Fort Saskatchewan and eventually onto Anthony Henday Drive.
The rally lasted several hours with those in the convoy asked to use the inside lane only with other lanes remaining open to motorists.

A small convoy of trucks coming in from Lamont on highway 16 near Sherwood Park make there way to the Anthony Henday Drive on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019.
Jack Graham, who was one the organizers, told Postmedia before the rally began he hoped everyone in Canada would get involved.
“We have been painted as picture of racism and as radicals,” Graham said.
“But we are just Canadians out here, we are not out here to cause anyone problems, just to bring awareness to Canada.”
Graham’s message to the government and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was clear.
“It’s time to change,” Graham said. “get rid that UN Compact, build that pipeline and stop the carbon tax.”
