Craig McKeown, director of engineering and maintenance for Edmonton Transit, and Brad Smid, acting director of LRT infrastructure delivery, outline upcoming transit changes at Central LRT station in Edmonton, on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. The station will be closed from April 6-27 for maintenance and upgrades as part of the city’s TLC for LRT program.

The program will see upgrades and maintenance conducted on the station and on surface tracks. Capital and Metro Line LRT service frequency and station usage will be changed as maintenance is conducted, as well as moving to five-car trains on the Metro line to address demand.

From April 28 to August 30, crews will work on revitalizing the 66 Street tunnel between Coliseum and Belvedere Stations. During the tunnel work, Capital and Metro Line trains will run at 12-minute intervals during peak hours between Churchill Station and the northern terminus of each line. Trains will run at six-minute intervals south of Churchill.
