You might not want to listen to a song titled Buckets Full of Snow on one of the few nice spring days in Edmonton, but don’t be fooled … Lora Jol‘s atmospheric electro-pop number isn’t an ode to winter.
Yes, the vibe might be a little chilly — you could say “refreshing” — but the shimmery synths, contemplative lyrics and Jol’s haunting vocals are perfect for walking alone in the river valley on a wide-skied June afternoon.
She’ll release Nowhere Near on Thursday, June 12 at Yellowhead Brewery, 10229 105th St. Tickets are $10 plus service charges at yeglive. (Or $22, which includes the price of a CD.) Roots-pop duo Goldtop — Alice Kos and Everett LaRoi — will open.
Doors at 7:30 p.m.
