Crystal Shawanda, The Gay Nineties, Brother Octopus, Lauren Mann to play Edmonton’s newest music venue

After releasing three country albums, Juno winner Crystal Shawanda is trying her voice at the blues.

Her first stab at the genre, The Whole World’s Got the Blues, featuring a cover of Buddy Guy’s What You Gonna Do About Me, is now in stores.

Shawanda will perform Wednesday, Oct. 29 at The Mercury Room,  10575 114th Street, a new 150-person venue which opened in mid-September. (Follow ‘em on Facebook or Twitter.) Ticket information has yet to be announced.

Here are a few of the shows booked for October:

Oct. 4 – Brothers Grim present Fattikus, and DAFUGADAHEER, w/ Brothers Grim, Double A, The Untouchables, Coal, JREDS

Oct. 9 – Raised Fist presents T’Gera, The Grand, I Am Machi, and Boy Rambler

Oct. 11 – The Gay Nineties, w/ Market Forces

Oct. 17 – Brother Octopus CD release, Locomotive Ghost CD release, Dave Vertesi (of Hey Ocean!), and Rosie June<

Oct. 22 – Lauren Mann & The Fairly Odd Folk, w/ guests

Oct. 24 – Brothers Grim Mixtape release

Oct. 25 – Gateway BLVD CD release show

Oct. 26 – Five Alarm Funk, w/ guests

Oct. 31 – KingDoom CD release, Halloween night
