Another week, another musical fundraiser.
At bat: The Wet Secrets. Edmonton’s brassiest dance-rockers are raising money for the Chimo Arts & Music Programs & Studios. The initiative, also known as C.H.A.M.P.S., provides instruments and music lessons for disadvantaged youth.
The Wet Secrets will headline an art show/silent auction on Thursday, Oct. 23 at Latitude 53, 10242 106th St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Fans can also donate money via Indiegogo. So far, the crowd-sourcing campaign has raised more than $1,200.
The Wet Secrets are one of 12 finalists in the Peak Performance Project, a talent contest sponsored by a Calgary radio station. As part of a series of challenges, each contestant must raise money for a charity.
Last week, Nuela Charles hosted a karaoke-athon for Plan Canada’s Because I am a Girl fund. Hip-hop artist Mitchmatic is currently offering to write jingles or give music lessons — with his “fee” going to the United Way.
The winner of the Peak Performance Project will receive $100,953. The results, announced in late November, will be determined by the challenges, showcase performances, and online votes.
Fans can cast their ballots HERE until Friday, Oct. 24.
