The rumours are true. KISS is coming — Friday, July 12 at Rexall Place.

Tickets range from $21 to $126 plus service charges. On sale: Friday, April 5 at Ticketmaster.ca.

(As someone pointed out on Twitter, this is the same day as the public on-sale for Mumford & Sons. By the way, if you’ve signed up for the British folk-rock act’s “not a presale” presale, the first set of invites to buy early tickets go out at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2. That’s today.)

Shinedown will open.

The last time KISS played Edmonton was 2000 — as part of the masked metal band’s supposed farewell tour. (Only guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss said goodbye, as it turns out. Their parts are currently being played by Tommy Thrayer and Eric Singer, respectively.)

Bassist Gene Simmons, however,  has made several visits since then — looking for local bands for his record label, acting as grand marshall for the Indy, and giving a talk about his career as a rocker, TV reality star and businessman.
