stereoscopes, words – fish
Let’s avoid the puns about Putrella the corpse flower (amorphophallus titanium) causing quite a stink at the Muttart Conservatory and just remember the good times, shall we?
These work best if you have 3d glasses on …
From the Muttart’s Facebook page, an explanation of the hole: “Around 2 p.m. this afternoon (April 23, 2013), several of our growers cut a dinner-sized plate hole into Putrella’s spathe (the ribbed, green leaf surrounding the tall middle spadix) to access the pollen produced by the male flowers.
“This pollen will be stored to pollinate future blooms at Muttart, as well as to share with other conservatories.”
You got it: Baby Putrellas!
