Peter Stone and Denise MacKay like to write Christmas songs — with a twist.
The Edmonton couple, who front rootsy-folk act 100 Mile House, can pen gushy holiday tunes (We’ll Count All the Days), but the pair also like to come up with witty, anti-Christmas tales (I Don’t Trust Santa).
Not that they’re Scrooges — 100 Mile House is hoping those two ditties will raise money for the Second Chance Animal Rescue Society and the Centre for Art and Music Society, which teaches youth at risk to play instruments and perform with others. You can donate and download the tracks via Bandcamp:
100 Mile House performs Saturday, Dec. 7 at The ARTery, 9535 Jasper Avenue, with The Collective West and The AwesomeHots. Tickets are $12 plus service charges at yeglive.ca.
