Public libraries around the country have been inundated with demands for the highly contentious book Fire and Fury.

Author Michael Wolff’s book, which was published Jan. 5, details the tempestuous tenure of U.S. President Donald Trump’s first nine months in office.

“The crazy thing about Fire and Fury is there was virtually no interest in it until Trump attempted to have its publication halted early last week,” said Nancy Porteous, collections manager at Edmonton Public Library.

In the first week of January, a legal representative for President Trump called for the publisher of the book to “immediately cease and desist” from releasing it, alleging it contains libellous and defamatory information.

“This one caught everyone off guard. It became a bestseller literally overnight,” Porteous said.
