An Edmonton Police Service traffic officer was involved in a multi-vehicle collision that slowed Whitemud Drive to one lane Thursday Afternoon.
“An EPS traffic officer was conducting a traffic stop in the area when his service vehicle was struck from behind by an SUV. The police service vehicle then reportedly struck the sedan involved in the traffic stop,” stated Carolin Maran, communications advisor with EPS in a news release.
The news release stated the collision occurred close to 2:45 p.m. and a police officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The drivers and passengers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane between 17 Street and 34 Street until close to 10 p.m. as police investigated the collision and cleaned the road.
