* From Alaska to … France? Paris is the title of the first single from Scenic Route To Alaska’s next folk-pop album, Warrington. (Which also happens to be the name of a town in England.)

The Edmonton trio will release the follow-up to their 2012 LP, All These Years, on Friday, June 6 at Boonie (oops, not intentional, I swear) BONNIE Doon Hall. Tickets are $15 plus service charges at yeglive. J. Eygenraam, who just released his third EP, Brutal Love, is also on the bill.

* Enigmatic rockers Nature Of will unveil their full-length debut on Tuesday, June 3 — but we’ll have to wait for more details. Or … you can bug the musicians when they open for Good For Grapes and Edmonton expats Zerbin on Thursday, May 1 at The Pawn Shop. Tickets are $13 plus service charges at yeglive.

* If you live in Germany, you’ll be one of the first to get a copy of The Provincial Archive’s next album. The Edmonton folk-popsters are issuing It’s All Shaken Wonder on Friday, May 16 via a Hamburg label, DevilDuck Records. Stay tuned for a Canadian release date.

*Victoria rockers Current Swell, featuring two former sons of St. Albert, want to share their Keys to the Kingdom.  It’s the first song from Ulysses, due Tuesday, May 6, which happens to be their first album since winning the $100,500 grand prize in a Vancouver radio station’s talent contest, The Peak Performance Project.

An equally lucrative competition for Alberta musicians is now underway, thanks to a new Calgary outlet, 95.3 The Peak, which hits the airwaves Friday, April 25. (TODAY!)

Applications are due Friday, May 2 via PPP’s site.
