stereograph, pics, words – fish
One of the great things about this art critic gig is sneak peeks of upcoming shows, though sometimes I have to promise to keep photos under wraps until an opening.
Amid the lifts and text still being applied the walls, the first glimpse of the Nancy Tousley-curated AGA Biennial The News from Here showed promise which paid off – it’s a captivating snapshot of the province’s already successful artists.
Eric Cameron’s paint-dipped poppies – seen here in red-cyan stereo, the elaborate monster TheBindingLine made by DaveAndJenn and Laura Vickerson’s velvet-wallpaper Luxe all caught my eye, which you can read about in this preview. It pays to get your work in early.
On a tangential note, it’s wonderful the way the AGA has opened up to people taking photos in the gallery spaces like, for example, MoMA in NYC. You can see some of these photos here and here, as well as some randoms from the gallery in general.
The show runs through May 5.
