A fog advisory is in effect for Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park Thursday morning.
Environment Canada says near-zero visibility fog is expected or already occurring in some areas across central and southern Alberta. Conditions are set to improve early this afternoon as the fog lifts, but it may redevelop this evening.
Travel may be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations, the agency said on its website.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP warned motorists to use caution when travelling around that area, especially on Highway 15 where there is heavy fog and zero visibility.
Fog advisories are issued by Environment Canada when near zero visibility in fog are expected or occurring.
